Monica Dellinger

Monica Dellinger

Mrs. Dellinger is currently working towards her 27th year of service in education. She received her Elementary Education degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and her Masters of Administration from Gardner-Webb University. She is married and has two children. As a family, they enjoy participating in Archery Events with her children’s archery team and camping. Mrs. Dellinger is actively involved in her church’s orchestra where she plays the flute. She believes children’s mindset can be changed from feeling as if things are impossible to “I’m possible” with just a little encouragement, structure and support.

Rachael Kennedy

Mrs. Kennedy is currently working towards her 18th year of service in education. She received her Elementary Education degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. She has her Masters in Reading K-12 and Administration with an add on certification in K-12 ESL. Mrs. Kennedy's family enjoys being outdoors, camping, and traveling. She loves spending time sitting on her patio with a cup of coffee and a good book. She believes that every student is unique, special and here for a purpose. It is our job as educators to give students the tools needed to prepare each of them to be lifelong leaders in their community and in the world.

Amy Moore

Amy Moore

Amy Moore is the Assistant Director to CCS. She previously served in Gaston County Schools. She received a degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian State. She has her masters in Elementary Education and in Administration. Mrs. Moore has six children and has been married 27 years to her husband Mark. Mrs. Moore feels that “Every student can learn, just not the same day, or in the same way.” As an educator, she believes that it is important to find the way each student can learn. Education is a lifelong process and we are making an investment in the lives of students. Mrs. Moore states, “As I am in the lifelong learning process and am investing in the students, I believe it is important to encourage students to find their purpose and help them fulfill that purpose, focusing on the core traditional American values.”

Adam Volk

Adam Volk

My family and I live just north of Stanley in Lincoln County. We have a son, a Kindergartner here at CCS, and a step-son, who is a Junior at East Lincoln High School, that keep us very busy! We love going to the beach and enjoying time together! Outside of school I work as a Motorcoach Operator for Burke Christian Tours and periodically teach Driver Education for a driving school based in Mooresville, NC.

I am a proud graduate of the State University of New York at Fredonia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Reading Education (K-12) at Queens University in Charlotte, and my Principal Licensure from Wingate University. Before coming to Community Charter, I taught and have served in various roles in education for around 20 years, all in North Carolina. I have taught 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Grades, with my latest educational journey teaching 5th Grade Social Studies/Writing at Pine Lake Prep in Mooresville for the past 9 years. Additionally I was our middle school’s Head Coach in baseball, softball, and basketball at Pine Lake.

I love being a part of the CCS team! I have worked at CCS for 4 years, and my two children attend as well. Prior to CCS, I worked in the local public school system for 12 years in several different roles and at several locations. This by far has been my favorite place to work! I’m looking forward to what this year has in store.

This is my third year at Community Charter School; however, I have been involved in the school since its inception as a substitute teacher. I am married and have a wonderful son, who has attended CCS since its first year. I possess an Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Science-Medical Assisting, but I have found my passion in teaching and am looking forward to pursuing my newfound love and career. As a parent, I know how great the CCS staff is and I look forward to carrying on this level of service to the children entrusted into my care.

I have had the pleasure of working in a school setting for over 20 years. When I was offered the Data Manager position at CCS, I knew I had found my home away from home. It is truly a privilege and an honor to work at a school with a team focus of educating, loving and caring for the students and each other. I have been married to my husband Don for 36 years. We have a son, Brandon and three rambunctious dogs. My husband and I enjoy riding our motorcycle whenever we get the chance whether it is winter, spring, summer or fall.

I am a veteran teacher with over 30 years of teaching experience in Gaston County Schools. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Meredith College and a Master’s Degree from Gardner Webb University, and I am National Board Certified. I have worked most of my career in elementary schools but also spent some time in middle school. My husband and I have one son who is the light of our world. We also have 2 rescue dogs and a rabbit. I am so excited to be a part of the CCS family!

I have had a passion for teaching and children since I was a child myself. This is my third year teaching and I am so excited to be a part of the amazing family here at Community Charter School.

I am a native Pennsylvanian (go Steelers!) and attended Grove City College where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. My family relocated to Mount Holly in 2006. This is my 5th year in education and my first at CCS where I am honored to be a part of your child’s educational journey. In addition to being a kindergarten teacher, I am a mom of two incredible boys. My oldest son, who is autistic, has been my greatest teacher and influence on my life, both in our home and in my classroom. We have three canine companions - Winston, Tucker, and Ginger and they are truly a part of our family! I am a fervent advocate for multisensory learning and firmly believe that “play is the work of children” (child psychologist, Jean Piaget) and “What the hand does, the mind remembers.” (Maria Montessori). I am truly grateful and blessed to be joining such an incredible team at CCS!

I grew up in Gastonia and attended Lowell Elementary, Holbrook Junior High and Ashbrook High School. I attended college at Western Carolina University. Go Catamounts! I graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Reading. I taught Kindergarten and 1st Grade for 32 years before retiring in 2017. I came out of retirement to teach at our wonderful school, Community Charter.

Wendi Summerlin

Wendi Summerlin

I grew up in the Crowders Mountain area of Gaston County and moved to Stanley when I got married 33 years ago. My husband George and I have two children. My son Evan is engaged and will be getting married in October. My daughter Lanie is married and lives in Winston Salem. I also have a Boston Terrier named Rosie. In 2003 I became a teacher’s assistant in public school. During that time I decided I wanted to be a classroom teacher. I attended Western Carolina University and graduated with my teaching degree in 2011. I have been teaching kindergarten since then.

This is my second year teaching at Community Charter School and I am so excited to be a part of the amazing family.

The 2023-24 school year will be my fourth year teaching, and I am so excited to spend it at Community Charter School as a first grade teacher! I started my career in Charlotte-Mecklenburg and I am thrilled to be at CCS. This is my 13th year in education and my 2nd year as a Trailblazer! I graduated with an Elementary Education degree from Appalachian State University in 2011, Go Mountaineers! In 2016 I received my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction K-12 from Gardner Webb. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have 2 boys. Benjamin Franklin said “tell me and I may forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn”. I am a believer that true learning is evident when experience produces action.

I am thrilled to say that this will be my 22nd year of teaching. I grew up in Stanley but moved to Alaska, then on to Montana where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and an Associates in Early Childhood from the University of Montana. I began my teaching career at CMS where I have taught first, second, and third grade. I am very much looking forward to a wonderful school year at Community Charter.

My name is Alyssa Edge and I am so excited to be at CCS. I have taught in charter, private, and public schools over the past ten plus years. Most recently I worked in Gaston County at the Department of Exceptional Children as a Teacher for the Deaf. I am originally from South Florida and got my Bachelors degree in Deaf Education and Elementary Education from Flagler College in St. Augustine. I have a dual role here at CCS, I am a teacher and a parent of a student here. I am so excited to get the chance to work with the students here and help create a love of learning.

I have a passion for education and have been in the classroom as both a Teacher’s Assistant and Teacher. I am married and have two boys that keep us busy with sports during most of the year. The classroom is one of my favorite places to be. I believe in creating a fun, structured environment where every child, no matter their background, feels both safe and loved.

I worked for Gaston County Schools for almost 10 years as an exceptional children assistant, and this is my third year as a classroom teacher. I am a graduate of UNCC. I am married and have a daughter, and I enjoy spending time with my family as well as watching my daughter play golf. I believe that all children have the ability to learn. I was homeschooled for all of my elementary and high school years. After graduation, I earned an Associate of Arts degree at Gaston College. Many years later I attended Belmont Abbey College, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I was born and raised in Gaston County. Stanley, NC is home to me. I have three sisters and two brothers. My nieces & nephews are my world; any of my free time is spent with them. Before I became a teacher, I worked for Atrium Healthcare as a unit secretary/monitor tech/fixer of all things(I am basically a multi-tasking ninja) for 10 years. I still work there occasionally because I love it so much.

I received my bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University in Elementary Education– with hopes of advancing my educational career in the future. Outside of the classroom, I am a wife and a mother of two. I enjoy spending time with my family and allowing my crazy children to teach me all their hobbies. From art, to dance, to skateboarding, we do it all and embrace adventure as a family. Within the classroom, I am a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated educator who wants all children to be successful learners. I believe that all students are wired for success and that success is created through meaningful relationships.

I am excited to be a part of this community. I have taught elementary school for over 30 years. I started out in Charlotte-Mecklenburg before coming to Gaston County at Belmont Central Elementary. I went to UNC Charlotte for my undergraduate degree. I have my Masters from Appalachian State University. I am so happy about the curriculum and people at Community Charter! On a personal note, I live nearby in Belmont. I have three children and a golden retriever. My husband and I enjoy rooting for East Carolina and NC State, where two of our children go to college. I love listening to music and I enjoy reading biographies in my spare time.

I am a wife and a mother of two daughters. I have one pet, a dog named Luna. I live in Stanley and am an East Gaston alumni. My favorite things are spending time with my family, going on day trips to the mountains, and camping. I have been teaching for 18 years and have experience in all grades K-5. I have a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State and a Masters degree from Montreat College.

I am so excited to part of this community. I have been teaching elementary school for 35 years. I retired from Gaston County Schools, where I taught at Belmont Central and Ida Rankin. I went to Lenior-Rhyne for my undergraduate degree. I have my masters from Grand Canyon University. I am National Board certified. I am so excited to learn about the curriculum and the community of CCS! On a personal note, I live in Mt. Holly. I have three boys, a daughter-in-law, and two dogs. My husband and I enjoy Gamecock games where my youngest son attends and listening to Army stories from his twin brother. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

I have 18 years teaching experience in both fifth and sixth grade reading and science. My husband and I have been married for 37 years. We have two daughters and four grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, camping, contemporary Christian music, and visiting places I haven’t been before.

Teaching is my passion! I have spent the last 30 years teaching in Gaston County Schools. I believe that every child can learn and grow. I graduated from UNC-Charlotte with an Elementary Education degree and I am certified to teach K-6th. I hold a NC and a SC teaching license. My husband Joel and I have been married for 24 years and have a 19 year old daughter that attends UNC-Charlotte. This is my first year at Community Charter School and I am beyond thrilled to join the Trailblazer team! This is a new adventure for me and I am looking forward to a wonderful year with staff, students, and parents.

I'm so excited to start on a new journey here at Community Charter School! For the last 2 years I have taught 5th grade in Gaston County. Teaching 5th grade has always been my favorite and I'm elated that I will be primarily teaching math (my favorite subject)! I graduated from UNC-Charlotte in 2021 with a Bachelors of Art in Elementary Education.  Outside of school, I love spending time with my husband, Noah, and our 3 dogs on our farm in Bessemer City. I look forward to all the memories that will be made here at CCS!

I hold a BA In Elementary Education from Grove City College, and have been a teacher for 29 years. Over the years, I have enjoyed teaching a wide variety of grade levels and subject areas and love helping students connect with learning in the classroom! I have a background in music and enjoy playing the piano and choral singing. I spend my spare time crafting and creating handmade treasures for my two young nieces. I am also a cat-mom to a very spoiled kitty, Felix. I am thrilled to be a part of the CCS team this year and I am looking forward to many wonderful adventures in education with my sixth grade students at Community Charter!

I am a combat military veteran, 4th Infantry Division. This is my 19th year teaching. In the past I have been a military instructor, taught in Gaston County Schools and have started my third year here. I am married and have two children and two grandchildren. Outside of school, I love gardening and working on our Lavender farm. I have a masters in education that I finished during my deployment in Iraq and a bachelors in business with a concentration in international law.

Some of my hobbies are spending time with my husband and son, gardening, and playing guitar.

This will be my first year teaching in the Charter School world, and I am very excited to be experiencing that here at Community Charter School. This is my 10th year of teaching. I have taught grades 9-12 in Gaston County Schools for the past nine years. I am a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte where I earned my Bachelors in English and a minor in Secondary Education. Some of my hobbies are reading, traveling, spending time with my husband and kids, and watching sports!

I was born and raised in Mount Holly. In my spare time I love spending time with my family, playing sports, being outside and crafting. Originally from western Massachusetts, I moved down to Charlotte in 2007 for a teaching position in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. I taught as a special education teacher serving students with Autism. I received a BS in Elementary and Special education from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY. I earned my masters in Literacy from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. I married into a southern family in 2010, and welcomed two children in 2012 and 2015. My children began attending CCS in 2020. I started with CCS as a parent, then I transitioned into a substitute teacher and now a full time special education teaching position. I am dedicated to the growth of CCS and its students.

I have lived in this area since I was a child. I have been teaching children with special needs for 33 years. I have a wonderful husband and a grown daughter and son, as well as a beautiful granddaughter. I am an active member of Grace Baptist in Mount Holly where I serve and teach. In my free time, I love to be outside and especially enjoy the mountains. My husband and I like to hike, kayak and bike whenever we can. I am excited to be a part of the CCS staff teaching in the Exceptional Children’s department.

I am the K-3 Reading Specialist this year at CCS. I am very excited to be here! I have been an educator for 29 years. I have taught 1st and 2nd grade and have been a reading specialist and academic facilitator for most of my career. I received my teaching degree from the University of NC at Charlotte and my Master’s degree in Reading Education from Appalachian State University. I have two grown children, a son and a daughter. I also have a sweet cocker spaniel named Homer and a cute orange cat named Odin. I enjoy spending time with my family, baking pies and reading good books. I look forward to a great school year at CCS!

I have lived in Stanley the majority of my life, and I received my Bachelors Degree from Liberty University in Elementary Education in Interdisciplinary Studies. Prior to my work here, I have substituted and tutored as well as worked with the children in my church. C.S. Lewis states, “The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles, but to irrigate deserts.” I am very excited to be a part of the CCS family and am looking forward to what is in store for us.

I attended Belmont Abbey College and obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I received my Master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix online. I am also certified as a Reading Specialist K-12. I am a wife, mother, and Grammie. I’ve been married 30 years. We have three children and four grandchildren. We love getting together and celebrating any occasion. We also enjoy traveling.

I am a math interventionist at CCS. This is my eleventh year in education. I have taught third grade as well as fifth grade. I have also worked as a content teacher. I received my teaching degree from Western Carolina University and my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner Webb University. I am excited to be at CCS!

I earned my B.Ed in elementary education from UNC-Charlotte in December 2002. I taught with Charlotte Mecklenburg School District, mainly in Equity Plus schools. I then moved to Carolina International Charter School in Concord for 13 years. I finished Masters level courses at UNC Charlotte earning an advanced degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Gifted Education on August 13, 2013. In August 2021, I became a member of the Community Public Charter School family, both as a staff member and a parent.

I live in Lincolnton with my husband of 22 years, our 7 year old son, Elijah, and 2 cats, Mia and Cosmo. In my spare time I love to read and watch movies. My favorite books are the Looking Glass Wars trilogy, Harry Potter series and The Inheritance Trilogy (which is no longer a trilogy). I love fantasy creatures, especially dragons.

I am thrilled to be joining the CCS team this year teaching Music, Chorus, and Theatre Arts. I graduated in 2011 from UNC Charlotte with a B.A. in Music and a minor in Theatre. I have enjoyed teaching children of all ages from pre-k to high school. I have a passion for seeing students with all different types of abilities come together and use their strengths to create something incredible!

Mr. Hahn graduated from Lee University in Cleveland, TN and began his teaching career in 2013. Two years later, he and his wife, Jessica, moved to North Carolina, and have two young children, and are expecting a third in January. Mr. Hahn is determined to teach music to young minds, fostering a sense of wonder in the classroom and respect for all cultures. He strives to encourage all students to participate in music, and aims to make music accessible to all who enter his classroom, regardless of ability or initial interest.

I graduated from Belmont Abbey College. I am married with two beautiful daughters, Harley and Holland, two awesome golden doodles, Luna & Benny and a pretty awesome cat name Mr. Fish.

I attended East Carolina University, GO PIRATES! I danced competitively growing up and went on to dance in college on the ECU Dance Team for 4 years! Teaching has been one of my biggest dreams since I was a little girl. After dancing for over 17 years and having such a strong passion towards teaching, I knew there had to be a way I could do both! Thanks to CCS, I have been given the opportunity to teach the dance course, therefore pursue my ultimate dream. I’m beyond excited to see what this year brings!

Since 2011, I’ve been a teacher in the public school system and now recently at Community Charter. I graduated from Western Carolina University with a Masters degree in PE, a bachelors in Parks and Recreation Management as well as a minor in Art. I grew up half in St. Louis, Missouri and the other half in Stanley. Because of this varied education and background, I have a well rounded perspective on life that will help guide students at Community Charter.

I joined the team at CCS in September 2021. I bring 32 years of experience in teaching Physical Education. I’ve coached softball, baseball, basketball, track, wrestling and football at both middle school and high school level. I live in Kings Mountain. I’ve been married to my wife, Julie, for 27 years. We have three daughters and 9 grandchildren. My favorite color is Clemson Orange!

I am in my 29th year of teaching Physical Education in North Carolina. My first four years were in Randolph County and I spent 22 years teaching in Charlotte. I first earned a business degree from UNC-Charlotte then realized my passion to teach children. I then earned my physical education degree from UNC-Greensboro. I have an excitement for teaching movement and skills which build confidence and self-esteem in children. My hobbies are juggling, volleyball, and spending time with my family.

My name is Barry Webster and I am excited to be a part of Community Charter School. I am an alumnus of Gardner Webb University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. I retired from Cleveland County Schools after teaching physical education for 31 years. I have been married to my wife Augusta for 35 years. We have three sons and six grandchildren. I enjoy camping and being outdoors, spending time with my family and watching UNC basketball.

I have an associate degree from Gaston College and was previously teaching preschool where I realized my passion for teaching. I grew up in a family of teachers, and this instilled in me a love for education and young children. I earned a B.A. in English from the University of North Georgia and Early Childhood Education certification from Augusta University. My work experience as a teacher includes a public, private and charter school, as well as homeschooling. After raising three children, I am excited to serve my local community sharing my love of learning. Tutoring students in reading is my favorite part of being a teaching assistant. When I’m not at home in Stanley, you might find me with my husband walking on my parent’s farm or eating ethnic food in a big city.

I am Margaret DeWolf, proud parent of two boys and grandparent to two grandsons. I live in Stanley and have been here for over four years after living a while in New Mexico. I obtained my Teaching Assistant Certification while teaching in upstate New York for several years. I have worked in several different schools with students from kindergarten to high school. I thoroughly enjoy working with the young students and helping them succeed. I really like working with elementary students because they are short like me!

I am a mom to 6 kids and a grandma of 15 grandbabies. I have been married to my loving husband for going on 23 years! I have worked with children for the past 27+ years. My name is Ashley Lewis, this is my third year as a teacher assistant at CCS. My love for children started at an early age, leading me to earn a certification in early childhood development in high school. I also attended Kings College, where I earned a diploma in Medical Assisting. I am married and live in Bessemer City, NC with my husband and our four boys. I have had the pleasure of homeschooling my children for eight years, but now they are at CCS too. We are looking forward to an awesome year with you all.

This is my fifth year here at CPCS, and I couldn’t ask for a better place to be! I grew up here in Stanley and received my bachelor’s degree in Christian Education from Lee University. I have been working with children in the preschool or school setting for seven years. Thomas Jefferson said that knowledge is power, knowledge is safety, and knowledge is happiness. I’m so pleased that I get to be a part of creating in our students a thirst for knowledge which will last a lifetime.

I joined CCS in 2019 as a first grade teacher’s assistant. Prior to CCS, I worked at Cramerton Christian Academy, as an interim PE teacher and substitute. I obtained a bachelor’s degree from Lee University in 2017 majoring in Christian Education. Stanley, NC has been my home for the majority of my life, and I would not trade my quaint, little “Mayberry” town for anything. Apart from assisting in the classroom, I love educating children in my local church. According to Psalm 127, Children are a heritage from the Lord, and I believe that it is our duty as educators to give children the best care and education possible.

My name is Mrs. McCurry and this is my third year at CCS! I look forward to teaching the curriculum and being a part of the community of CCS. I live in Cramerton, NC with my husband Brad and our sweet pup Mac. In my spare time, I enjoy being “Aunt Sass” to my nieces and nephews.

I have been married for 25 years and I have 4 kids, ages from 14 to 23. I have worked with children in the preschool setting for 8 years and worked with special education students for 8 years at Webb Street School and Gardner Park Elementary School. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family/friends and listening to Christian music. I am Blessed to be a part of the CCS family now and for many years to come!

I am married and have two beautiful daughters. My favorite hobby is cooking. I also enjoy doing arts and crafts with my girls. I have always loved working with children. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been working with children for over 15 years. Being able to watch their eyes light up when they learn something new brings me joy. This is my fifth year at CCS. I absolutely love working here, and I’m excited to see what new adventures this school year will bring.
